Liberty County Chamber 2016 Banquet
January 22nd, 2016
Chamber members heard updates on the St. Joe Port and the Apalachicola Northern Railroad, which runs through Liberty County, during Monday night’s annual banquet. Jim Brook of Opportunity Florida said the port, now under construction, will be one of the largest in the panhandle - bigger than ports in Pensacola or Panama City. He said the 300-acre site will have room for plenty of water traffic and extensive storage capacity. Fifty miles of the A&N Railroad track runs through Liberty County and will serve as a critical link to the port. Also speaking was Darwin Gilmore, who talked about the many training opportunities available through Chipola College’s vocational program.
